The Dog Days Of Summer, oil on canvas, 9"x12". For sale on etsy.
Here's a good example of how I can start a painting with a specific idea and how it completely morphs into something else. This was supposed to have been my bee painting, as I discussed in an earlier post, but then something happened and it turned into a watermelon and dog themed piece. One never knows where a painting will end up. I'll try and reconfigure the bees into something else.

Sometimes for the sake of art you have to roll up your sleeves and pose for your own paintings. Here are some outtakes for a painting that I'll be working on for next week. I'm not much of a model and tend to goof off which often leads to falling and hurting myself. Hopefully it will all be worth it in the end. It will be a bee and shoe themed piece and thankfully I didn't need to pose with actual bees. Although, I did get to model my Nathalie Lete skirt that I purchased at Anthropologie last week so that made it all worth while....!

The Princess Phone, oil on canvas, 8"x10". Sold.
I watched 'A Single Man' last night and became obsessed. Not so much with Colin Firth like most people would, but rather with the style of the film and more specifically with Charley's (Julianne Moore) house, furnishings, accessories, and her adorable aqua princess phone. This painting was well underway, but I just knew that princess phone belonged in this painting. It was the missing piece to the puzzle.
I think Tom Ford should make more movies, even though it made me cry.
Francine And Her Frenchie, oil on canvas, 10"x12". Sold.
The Shoe Siege, oil on canvas, 6"x8". For sale on etsy.
I had a hard time getting a decent photo of this little one due to the grim rainy weather outside. Ugh, I hate a bad photo, but after taking about 50 pics from every lighting position possible (one of which had me almost in a handstand), this one is pretty close.
On a good note, I did get a big print shipment, and I've been sorting it out and listing on etsy, so if you are as gloomy as I am right now, hopefully some cheery prints might bring some light into your day.
