Snow White’s Bedroom

Snow White's Bedroom, oil on canvas, 9"x12".  Sold.

If I had a wicked stepmother with a deadly vendetta against me, this is probably where I would want to hide out.  Books, pretty outfits, and a friendly watchful owl to chat with.  Not sure about the apple though.  That looks a tad menacing.

I should mention that there will eventually be more in my Black Walnut Manor series for anyone who may be interested.  I've actually worked on a few paintings for it, but haven't quite worked out the direction- it's dull artsy stuff that's too boring to really explain very well.  In short, when it doesn't feel entirely right, I just set it aside and come back to it when it does.   Of course, that's my excuse for a lot of things- laundry included.

Gracie Was A Natural Born Leader

Gracie Was A Natural Born Leader, 16"x20", oil on canvas.  For sale on etsy.

Here's another larger piece that likely needs to be viewed on etsy to see all the detail.  Unfortunately my blog doesn't take large picture files and there's so much detail in this piece that the only way to see it properly is to follow the link below and then click on the actual image on etsy and it will blow it up a little larger.

I had almost too much fun painting the bulldog in the piece.  John will be happy that I finally painted one of his favourite dog breeds.

I can't quite explain what is going on in the piece- it's pretty much open to interpretation, but I do appreciate how Gracie is about to ride into battle 'sidesaddle'.  Always a lady.

I should also mention that I'm starting to release prints  from my '364 Days Of Dresses' series.  Please pop by the shop and take a look!

A Sense Of Adventure

Left:  At Long Last Max Returns To The Manor In A Yellow Taxi After Studying Abroad. 5"x7", oil on canvas.  Sold.

Right:  Catherine Decides To Get Some Fresh Air And Exercise, 9"x12", oil on canvas.  Sold.

Initially I was going to call the son 'Gable', but since most people thought that the father 'Hugo' looked so much like Clark Gable, it seemed like overkill.  So, he's been renamed Max and will eventually show his face.

And an update on our lovely postal strike.  It looks like they are now being legislated back to work by the government so the piles of orders that I have neatly stacked up should be shipping out later this week.  It's been a very stressful week and I can't say I've ever paid so much attention to the news before.
