Love And Cake

Love and Cake, oil on canvas, 8"x10".  For sale on etsy.

One of the paintings that I get quite a few emails about is 'Lovebird Patisserie', so I've created a piece with a fairly similar vibe- I think.  Perhaps it's Lovebird Patisserie Part Two.

Not sure if ladybugs do care for chocolate, but it appears that these ones do.

The Husband Catcher Cake

The Husband Catcher Cake, oil on canvas, 10"x10".  Sold.

There appears to be a bit of a romance going on in this painting.  I'll leave it up to the viewer to imagine the details.  I think I've mentioned in previous posts about the 'Husband Catcher Cake' lore in my family.  My grandmother had a cake called the 'Vienna Torte' that seemed to appeal to many of her daughters' suitors and soon became known as the 'Husband Catcher'.  My mother made it a couple times for my suitors and like magic the husband was soon caught.  Maybe there is something to it?

Cake And Ice Cream

Cake And Ice Cream, oil on canvas, 6"x8". Sold.

I can't say that I've ever painted a traditional wedding cake with the bride and groom figurines before.  I've always rather liked them in a kitschy kitsch kind of way, especially the vintage ones.
