I’ll be taking a little time off for Christmas and will post again on December 26th. I had forgotten just how much time Christmas shopping, cooking, baking etc takes up.

Wine And Cheeses, oil on canvas, 8″x10″. SOLD.
Wine and Cheese are two of my favourite things. December of course is a deadly month with all the parties and all the wine and all the cheese that has to be consumed in revolting amounts. Of course my other Christmas weakness is the dreaded CHRISTMAS CAKE.
Yes, I’m one of the those people.
Although, I think I’m going to cut back after my recent realization of just how many calories are involved in one of those wonderful cakes. I was in the supermarket pondering if I dare buy one when I happened to flip it over and saw just how fattening it was. I became so flustered that I started to shake and next thing I know I fumbled the cake and it landed with a thud on this little girl’s foot. Of course she cried (likely a result of the weight of the thing), or perhaps the sight of it put her off. Her mother gave me quite the look and I shamefully exited the building without the cake.
That cake has haunted me since and I think I painted it in the above painting.

I think tomorrow I may actually post a Christmas inspired painting. Now, I never like to paint Christmasy things as I always feel it’s one step away from wearing a Christmas sweatshirt and drinking out of a Christmas mug (sorry mom). However, I’ll attempt to make it stylish, sort of a Town And Country Christmas. It will be a challenge, but I think I’m up for it.
And speaking of challenges, I should mention that I failed ludicrously with my gingerbread. Yikes. They turned out to be flavorless rock hard pucks. I think it was the recipe, and I won’t mention who’s recipe it was, but it was such a waste of time. From now on I’m buying all of my Christmas baking and I’ll stick to painting.
