This painting was strongly influenced by my recent viewing of Sofia Coppola’s ‘Marie Antoinette’ which I loved. The lovely pastel colours and the costumes and the decadence…..I kept wondering how these girls who sat around all day and all night drinking champagne and eating cakes didn’t gain any weight. I mean, a corset can only do so much.
Anyhow, I have to admit to indulging in a few cookies to get through this painting. It’s hazardous to paint food.
