After yesterday’s double feature, it looks like I’m all painted out today. Okay, and mildly hungover from attending a ‘Theatre Season Kick Off Party’. It’s what you do when you live in a big theatre town. Even though I never manage to see many plays.
I will do my best to recover and return with a fresh painting on Monday evening 8pm.

All Painted Out

Heels, oil on canvas, 11″x 14″. SOLD.

This is an experiment. I am often asked if I paint larger ‘oil sketches’ and in the past I’ve found that they don’t work. However, after re-thinking it, and playing around with the idea, I completed this one which I thought worked quite well in a larger format, and didn’t lose it’s charm.

The Honeymoon, oil on canvas, 8″x10″. SOLD.

There was just something about this painting that made me think that it would be the perfect spot for a honeymoon. It looks to me that it is likely in Italy. Which reminds me, I have yet to go on my honeymoon. I have no idea how that was overlooked. I think it must have been from the shock of getting married so quickly (nine months from first date to wedding date) that perhaps we neglected it. And, yes, I know that nine months sounds suspicious, but it wasn’t a shotgun weddding. Now that the shock has worn off, I think I will start planning it. If anyone has any suggestions or favourite places please let me know!

Lilac Cottage, oil on canvas, 8″x10″. SOLD.

I thought since the lilacs are starting to bloom here in Ontario, that it was fitting to include them in today’s painting. Last spring I planted a lilac bush in my backyard and I’m thrilled that it is actually starting to bloom. I’m really a terrible gardener so it’s a big deal for me. Sad but true.
