My Favourite Teacher Dress, oil on canvas, 8"x10". Sold.

As a Canadian, my first inclination was to put a classic 'Portrait of the Queen' hanging from the chalkboard because I seem to recall a lot of those Queen pictures from my childhood.  Then I realized that a favourite teacher would likely have had something a little more motivating going on than a portrait of a Monarch.

I should mention that I'm sick as a dog right now.  John brought home a nasty summer cold last week (which I teased him about mercilessly) but then a couple of days ago, I woke up with the dreaded scratchy throat.  I was hoping to finish a non-dress painting this week, but the only other one that I have on the go has food in it, and it's making me kind of queasy.  Even painting those little apples along the chalkboard was difficult.  The only thing that seems to work for me is something that I'm referring to as 'French Tea' which contains heaps of Grand Marnier.  Of course, that could explain the double vision.

  1. Darling Janet,
I too am sick with the flu at the moment! I must admit I feel terribly sorry for myself, but a posting and new painting from you definitely makes the day brighter. I don’t know how you can still manage to paint while sick … you are so brave!
    Get well soon, Darling!

  2. Sorry to hear that you too are sick. Summer colds and flu are the worst! I should be in bed but I just became so bored and annoyed by it all. Maybe annoyance is one way of getting over a cold fast.
