    Hi Janet,
I had to laugh when I saw the “hotcakes” I make them every morning for my son who is home studying for a board exam. The last few days I changed to waffles just so they would different! I think Canadian ia pancakes, but I agree “hotckes” is more fun.

  2. Your paints are so good! I always miss them! They sell quick!!!!
Pancakes is what I call them(US)

I guess I could turn this into some sort of poll. The other odd breakfast thing that I experienced in the States occurred in New Orleans when my friend ordered eggs. The waiter asked how she wanted them, and she said fried. He never heard the term ‘fried’ before. Then there’s always the Canadian bacon thing…..

I’m in the US (New York!) and we say both Hotcakes and Pancakes, some diner menus even offer it as a ‘stack of Hotcakes’!

I think what your friend said about fried eggs is perfectly acceptable, but it’s usually followed up by “fried, OVER EASY”, or “fried, WELL DONE”, maybe that’s what the waiter/waitress meant when they said they’ve never heard of anyone ordering just friend eggs.
